What GOT7 Members are Doing after They Left JYPE?

After GOT7 released their album ‘Breath of Love: Last Piece’ at the end of 2020, the members decided to part ways and leave JYP entertainment officially on January 2021.

Is GOT7 disbanded? Hell no! Even though members of GOT7 left their initial agency, but all members promised their fans that GOT7 is always here and will comeback as a 7 members again for sure. Jae Beom have also promised the members he will be the one to produce their next album!

After they left JYPE, GOT7 released a single specially for the Ahgases, <Encore>. Jinyoung wrote the song and Mark directed the music video himself. There is no fancy costumes and showcases for the songs, but it is one of my favorite songs of GOT7!

였랜 μ‹œκ°„ μ§€λ‚œν›„μ—λ„ μ—¬κΈ° (After a long time later)
λ‚˜μ™€ ν•¨κ»˜ μžˆμ–΄μ€„λž˜ (Do stay together with me here, ok?)

As GOT7 members left JYPE, each of them have signed and managed under a new agency respectively. All members have clear plans on what to do next, ready for their new departure to grow better as artists.

In this post, I will share on the recent activities and works of all the GOT7 members with their new agency!

Jackson

Even before the departure from JYPE, Jackson has produced and released his own English album, having other collaboration with artists from Asia. Currently, all his activities are managed by his own company, Team Wang.

Jackson have produced many songs from Team Wang, and right after the departure, he released another single “LMLY” telling a sad, heartbreaking story of loving a girl! He also directed and planned the music video himself from scratch.

Jackson also started releasing his fashion series with Team Wang Design across different countries!

Youngjae

Youngjae officially join Sublime Artists Agency (SAA), which is one of the renowned entertainment agency with big names like Rain, and Song Kang Ho. Jackson also reported to have international collaboration with SAA especially on his activities in Korea! So technically, Jackson and Youngjae are ‘partially’ under the same agency.

After departure, Youngjae had many collaboration with fashion brands like Givenchy, Levi’s, Burberry and Mont Blanc! He was invited for fashion shooting from magazines like Elle. He is no longer only a vocalist, but also a fashion model! Youngjae is definitely more active in social media compared to before as well.

He is now learning to be an actor as well! Recently, YJ had his first acting appearance in the new Netflix sitcom, “So Not Worth It” as a funny oversea university student from Australia called Sam! He did so great in the drama, and in an interview he mentioned he was very nervous during the shooting if he would do any mistakes!

Jinyoung

As we know Jinyoung has always wanted to be an actor with his previous work as the male lead in drama “He is Psychometric”, after leaving JYPE, he signed with BH Entertainment with other senior actors like Kim Bo Young, Kim Go Eun and Lee Ji Ah!

Jinyoung will come back to the TV screen with his new tvN’s drama ‘The Devil Judge’ with Jisung. Jinyoung will be playing another character he never tried before, as an associate judge who pursues upright justice and truth in the midst of greed and corruption! This drama will be premiered on July 3, remember to check it out!

BAMBAM

The group maknae, BAMBAM continue his journey as a K-pop artist under the new agency, ABYSS which is previously known as MAKEUS. Other K-pop artists which belongs to this agency include SUNMI, Park Won and Urban Zakapa.

BAMBAM recently just released his new Korean EP album, ‘riBBon’ with a cheerful sunny concept. I really like how catchy the song is and the dance of title track ‘riBBon’. Along with the EP are another 4 songs: ‘Pandora’, ‘Look So Fine’, ‘Air’ and ‘Under the Sky’. The album is one of the best selling K-pop album this week!

Yugyeom

Yugyeom is always interested in producing R&B music and rumors were true that he signed with Jay Park’s AOMG right after his departure from JYPE. He received warm welcome by the agency and fans are happy he joined together with so many popular R&B singers and rappers of AOMG like Lee Hi, Simon D and LOCO.

Yugyeom also made a huge comeback with AOMG by producing a new EP album with 7 tracks, ‘Point of View: U’! The album was released officially last week and he is now focusing on his promotional activities, appearing on different music shows and programs!

Yuyeom also released many performance videos of the songs in his EP! AOMG definitely nail his marketing!

As Yugyeom and Bambam are releasing their EP almost at the same time, both of them attended music programs together. Their chemistry as GOT7 members are still strong as both of them gave the ‘7’ hand sign as their ending pose! They also attended radio together and promoted their albums.

Jay B

Our talented leader, Jay B soon joined with H1GHR MUSIC which is an international hip hop and R&B Record Label founded by Jay Park and Cha Cha Malone! So technically, again, Yugyeom and Jay B have the same boss, who is Jay Park.

The agency specially made a documentary series with Jay B telling the story of the determination of him wanting to become a good solo artist and producing more of his own music. He has a very good relationship with Jay Park, maybe because both of them are called Jae-beom!

Jay B also released his new single ‘Switch it Up’ feat. Sokodomo and produced by Cha Cha Malone! This song is one of the trending songs in major billboards and in the Spotify playlist!

Mark

Last but not least, our Mr. Mark Tuan decided to go back to his hometown in LA to spend more time with his family after the departure from JYPE. He opened up a YouTube channel and recorded his farewell with the members and journey back home.

After a while, he released a new English single named ‘One in a Million’ feat Sanjoy and the animated music video recorded a total of 9.4 million views!

Mark Tuan officially signed with Creative Artists Agency (CAA) to expand his influence in USA. If you don’t know this, many international artists, content creators, actors and sports celebrities are managed and clients under CAA in Hollywood including Ariana Grande and Vin Diesel!

As an Ahgase, I was quite sad for a moment when I found out GOT7 might be ‘disbanded’ upon their departure from JYPE…

But I believe our boys will work hard together to become a better artist of their own, and when the time has come, they will meet us in full member of GOT7 again! No matter how, Ahgase will support their decision and we definitely feel happy of their plans with their new agencies (as they did so much better than JYPE!)

Should I Watch the Latest Korean Netflix Sitcom ‘So Not Worth It’?

Is it worth it to watch the recently hot discussed Korean Netflix sitcom ‘So Not Worth It? Let me tell you why watching this drama is really worth it!

The sitcom ‘So Not Worth It’ is finally released since 18th June 2021, and all episodes are now ready to watch in Netflix! This drama is one of the first Korean sitcom released in Netflix, by giving another new concept to the Korean drama industry! The 30 minutes short episodes will make you laugh a lot while learning some Korean culture that we will never know as an foreigner!

A bunch of bubbly international students in a Korean university

With the global popularity of K-wave, many oversea students consider South Korea as one of their choices to further their study. As the university ranking and education system is among the best in Asia, it is now quite common to see foreign students in major universities of Korea. In 2020, there are 154 thousand international students studying in Korea, which is a huge number!

The sitcom uses this as their story background, telling different stories of the international students of a university in Seoul. Therefore, it is very cute to see how diverse the casts are, with different skin colors and culture background.

Non-Korean casts who speaks perfect Korean!

You thought they might be speaking English in the drama since some of them are foreigners? But no! All of them speak perfect fluent Korean. And what more interesting is some even learn perfect dialect terms! Even though there are casts who are native Korean in real life, but it is just so exciting to watch different people from around the world speaking Korean just like their native language. This motivates me to learn Korean more!

But, in real life, do all international students know how to speak Korean? The answer is probably yes! If you are a full time student, you are required to take a semester/a year of Korean intermediate class so you can master the language. Even though some of the courses are conducted in English, but the Korean language is important for you to communicate effectively with you friends and lecturers.

Some of my favorite characters in the drama!

GOT7’s Youngjae (as Sam from Australia)

I’m sorry I got to mention this as I am a GOT7 fan. I am always impressed of Youngjae’s singing voice as he is just a perfect singer! But I have never knew he has a talent of acting too. But he is so suitable to be this character of being funny and naughty, as he does act just like Sam in real life!

(G)I-DLE’s Minnie (as Minnie from Thailand)

Does anyone not liking Minnie? She has always been catching my eyes since I watched Queendom and following (G)I-DLE. Her huge eyes and cute smiles is so ‘mesmerizing’ and you can feel joy just from her sunny personality! This drama also keeps their known name as the name of their character. And Minnie in SNWT is just like Minnie in real life too!

Got to say she is just another fashionista in the drama! Minnie here is a K-content lover and also a K-drama fans just like all of us. So much relatable from this character, right?

All the looks of Minnie in the drama! It is just so impressive!!

Hyun Seung (as Jamie from USA)

This guy is the ‘oppa’ figure in the drama. Handsome, rich, kind and boyfriend material! He is indeed a new actor, but he really did well in the drama with his cuteness and gentleman personality. In the story, Jamie is the adopted son of a very famous international actor from US. This reminds me of Angelina Jolie who sent her son to Korean university last time!

Jamie has many charming moment and love chemistry with Se Wan, the local RA of the international dorm. I definitely hope to see more Hyun Seung as a different character in other Korean dramas!

Hyun Min (As Hyun Min from Korea)

Yes, when you thought a ‘dark skin’ student will be an international student, but Hyun Min is indeed a native Korean (in real life and also the drama)! Hyun Min is another very funny character who likes sneaker so much and being lovable to babies and dogs! He always crashed in the international dorm college because his house was too far from the town.

If you don’t know, Han Hyun Min is a famous model in South Korea. He is actually a Korean citizen whose father is a Nigerian and mother is a Korean. He was nationally recognized as the first Korean model of African descentΒ to walk the catwalks in South Korea and international stage.

Hyun Min raps to call back the sneakers he lost!

Carson (as Carson from USA)

Carson is not like the ordinary US girls from New York, but inside her is full of the Korean ‘Ahjumma‘ vibe! She is hot tempered and she likes to talk in dialect tone because of all the ahjumma friends she have made. She has a sergeant as her boyfriend, which totally imaginable with her personality in the drama! She really gave me a lot of laughter!

Not to forget Se WanπŸ‡°πŸ‡·, HansπŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ͺ and TerrisπŸ‡ΉπŸ‡Ή!

Know more about the casts here!

Surprise CAMEO from the real comedians!

So do you think it is worth to watch “So Not Worth It” in Netflix now?

Stream all episodes in Netflix, and I always watch it when I’m feeling down or stressed! All these cuties just cheer up my day!

Falling Falling in Love with When My Love Blooms : On-going Kdrama series

Aside from the currently hot topic for World of Marriage; and all-time return of Lee-Min Ho in The King: Eternal Monarch; let’s look into a more soft and emotional approach in the kdrama scene; also somewhat inter-related to marriages, however the story portrays 2 sides of timeline; with a more soft sentimental approach in storyline. I won’t be spoiling too much as the series have just started and reached episode 4 as of this write-up. You will be able to feel the emotion flowing as you watch through it (aside for being a fan of the cast : Jinyoung @ GOT7 – I obviously get more fangirl feels) the story brings backs good old past childhood memories that viewers can relate to with their first love – high school puppy-love? but also hitting us hard on reality as we grow older and deal with realities in the environment and society we live in.

The series is still new; yet the OSTs have been smashing charts on their release on 3rd May 2020 ; it has already reached 750k views on Youtube on the first few days; and has been flying up the charts in Korean Digital Charts! Passing 25k Monthly listeners on Spotify with just within the first 3days of release! #1 on Melon Rising Charts #3 on Melon Hot Tracks and Top 50 for Genie and Soribada. International listeners are also literally Falling Falling in love with the song being #1 on iTunes for 6 Countries outside of Korea, Malaysia being among the 6! Yay! Malaysian K-lovers are loving it for sure. Also surprising the idol himself with the sudden peak as they just ended their own ‘Not By The Moon’ Comeback recently. Youngjae even shared his shock on his IG post as the OST Track rise from #195 ranking to the top on Kcharts!

Being part of GOT7’s main vocal, Youngjae has been singing a few OSTs for a few dramas, Fall in Love OST was particularly a fan favourite as the fandom loved the supportive side of the song as GOT7 teammate JinYoung, was among leads in the drama series. The song Fall in Love sang by Youngjae and Choi Jung Yoon, OST for When My Love Blooms has a nice medium-tempo to it, syncronizing both vocals of Youngjae and Choi Jung Yoon’s cute touch to it, that expresses the feelings of the two protagonists at young age gradually falling in love with each other.

Author’s Personal Note!

Personally enjoyed the song the moment I first listened to it on the release and it has been on immediate loop. Honestly, I got a bit on the teary side and emotionally teared up listening as I go through the song cause I felt really touched with the lyrics. It is a very simple expression of falling in love and wanting to be with each other everyday. The melody and vibes both the singers gave out such a nice and innocent love. You’d definitely love it!

Let me know what you think of the OST? Did you felt the cute innocent love the moment you listen to it? have a go and enjoy it while we await the next episode for When My Love Blooms.
