K-wave has hit into my life 10 years ago, and K-pop songs in the 2010s are a big part of my high school life! In this post, let us review some of the most classic K-pop songs released in the past decade to match your summer playlist!
High five if you’re same as me, who started your K-pop fanboy/fangirl journey with 2nd generation K-pop idols. Idols who were such a hit when I first listened to K-pop around 2010s are BIGBANG, 2NE1, Super Junior, Wonder Girls, BEAST, SHINee, F(X), SISTAR, KARA, 2PM, 2AM and so many more.
My bias was (‘IS’) 2PM because for no reasons, they are just perfect! But at the same time, I’m also following other groups because they really produced many great songs which are being ‘respected’ in the industry until now. Artists from different agencies have their own production and fashion concepts which always excites K-pop fans for any comebacks from the artists.
Touch My Body | SISTAR
The four members girl-group, SISTAR by Starship Entertainment was popular with their sexy concept that killed millions of boy fans in the world. ‘Touch My Body’ released in July, 2014 rapidly became a hit to start off the summer season. I still remembered vividly some of the classic ‘hippie move’ in this choreography.
Hot Summer | f(x)
‘Hot Summer, Hot Hot Summer…’
I believe any 2nd generation idol fans can relate to me because this song was the top of the chart as it was released in the summer 10 years ago! f(x) was a 5 members girl group formed with members from different backgrounds under SM Entertainment. The group concept in their production works were always experimental and foreign during the time but their bold ideas grab attention from many K-pop fans!
I AM THE BEST | 2NE1
2NE1 is another pioneer of the industry during the 2010s K-pop trend managed by YG Entertainment. The four members group was considered the queen of K-pop as they received support not only from fans of South Korea but also on international stages. ‘I AM THE BEST’ was released on June 2011, integrating different music genres of electronic, hip hop and electro house. The song brings great meaning to inspire and motivate people to be their best self.
Hands Up | 2PM
Such a coincidence, this song that I want to recommend which is 2PM’s ‘Hands Up’ was also released on June 2011! I think any great songs that released during that summer would go into hit! ‘Hands Up’ by 2PM brought their fans to a club party with its electronic disco beats produced by the boss Park Jin Young (JYP) himself. This song gave a new image to their fans as they are slowly transforming their concept from wild masculine beasts into matured sexy men.
WE LIKE 2 PARTY | BIGBANG
BIGBANG is definitely in the list among the best 2nd Generation K-pop idols we all are missing so much now. Even though the group was never disbanded officially, but they have been inactive since the Seungri scandal. The song ‘WE LIKE 2 PARTY’ was released on June 2015 under the album ‘MADE’. This is another party song like ‘Hands Up’ but in a more chill, relax and laid back beats.
Beautiful Night | BEAST/HIGHLIGHT
BEAST was also an iconic male idols during the 2010s with their handsome visuals and genuine vocals! All members are ‘aces’ which are good in dancing and singing, even rapping. ‘Beautiful Night’ was released on 2012 in the album of ‘Midnight Sun’ and was also nominated as the Best Song of the Year. Get your gears up and enjoy a night summer party with BEAST members! (*BEAST members are now named HIGHLIGHT as they changed their agency)
