Together celebrate the 54th ASEAN Day: stronger bonds with the Koreans

Today is the 54th ASEAN Day in celebration of the establishment of the The Association of Southeast Asian Nations since 1967.

ASEAN is an economic union consisting of 10 South East Asia member countries in initiating intergovernmental corporation and promote regional development in economic, social and politic.

ASEAN is now comprising of 10 countries, namely Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. The population of ASEAN countries was about 655 million, represented 8.5% of the world population. Total GDP of the member countries increases over the years, remarking the region as a highly potential economic block among the investors.

The lyrics have been played proudly for so many times since its debut in 2008. Composed by Mr. Kittikhun Sodprasert, Mr. Sampow Triudom, & Mrs. Payom Valaipatchra, the anthem highlights #ASEAN Identity & Unity.

South Korea is among the first partner countries of ASEAN in promoting closer relationship with other countries. Korea is the first dialogue partner of ASEAN and three special commemorative summits were being held every 10 years. The close bilateral relationship of South Korea to ASEAN enable benefits of both parties in social development, free trade and other economic corporation. The New Southern Policy initiated by the current South Korea President Moon Jae-In helps strengthened the relationship further by 3P concept (People, Peace, Prosperity).

Korean Mission to ASEAN Online Supporter 2021 Program is Finally Launched #publicdiplomacy #ASEAN #ROK #Korea_ASEAN

30 citizens representing respective ASEAN member countries are officially assigned as the Online Supporters for The Mission of ROK to ASEAN on the last 21st April.

The members were welcomed by the Ambassador H.E. Lim Sung-nam with his congratulatory speech. Through his remark, he pointed out the significance of Online Supporter in enhancing the relations of South Korea into the community of our home country through the channel of social media.

The ambassador was also anticipated of the future contents that will be created by the newly assigned Online Supporters which the program will be carried out throughout the year. Best content and best performer will be awarded with great prize as a token of appreciation and recognition.

Firstly I’d like to thank the Mission of Republic of Korea to ASEAN for the opportunity to be appointed as one of the Korea-ASEAN Online Supporters 2021. I hope through this program, I’ll be able to equip myself with more knowledge about Korea, ASEAN and the bilateral relations & activities from both and create creative contents to promote them to many more other global citizens.
