[K-Recipe] Beef Bulgogi Fries à la K-Fry

Bulgogi is thinly marinated slices of beef grilled on a barbecue or on a stove-top griddle, where “bul” is fire in Korean while “gogi” means meat; literally translate to “fire meat” 🔥 In this post, I will share the recipe of my favourite and must-have meal in K-Fry Urban Korean restaurant – one of the famous eatery where Malaysians satisfy their craving for Korean cuisines. It is……….

None other than the BEEF BULGOGI FRIES !

I believe many Malaysians love this meal and it is one of the bestsellers in the K-Fry menu. Since my dad loves this meal so much over their variety of chickens menu, I decided to try out and making this easy and simple menu for dinner at home today (as it’s past the delivery hour during MCO). To my rescue, I found the recipe which gives out the end result and taste just exactly like the one we had in K-Fry! (or perhaps 99% close, if you know how to balance out the ingredients hehe) Here here, the bulgogi fries recipe from @hanythaikitchen.hq , inspired by K-Fry:

The Ingredients you will need are:

  1. Bulgogi / meat (I use the marinated beef brisket by Hany Thai Kitchen)
  2. Red onion
  3. Japanese mayonnaise (I use Kewpie brand mayo)
  4. Roasted sesame dressing (I use Kewpie brand dessing)
  5. Lemon
  6. Fries
  7. Scallion (optional)
You can get these at the supermarkets nearby

Easy and simple steps to cook Beef Bulgogi Fries:

  • 1. Deep-fry or air-fry your fries (any fries are okay. In this recipe, I use the crinkle-cut fries while the original recipe from K-Fry use the thin shoestring fries). Once done, set the fries aside.
  • 2. Marinate your meat with enough bulgogi sauce – which includes soy sauce, brown sugar, Korean pear, ginger, garlic, black pepper, and sesame oil. Or save yourself from the hassle and use the already-marinated meat from Hany Thai Kitchen (easy and save time! 😉).
  • 3. Pan-fry your meat on the pan until cooked. (They will naturally release some juice, cook until almost completely dry but be careful not to let it over-cooked or else your meat and bulgogi will be too crispy and not juicy).
  • 4. While waiting for your meat to be cooked, dice your red onions.
  • 5. Once the meat cooked, add your onions into the pan.
  • 6. Add 2-3 spoonful of the Japanese mayonnaise onto the pan.
  • 7. Add 1-2 spoonful of the roasted sesame dressing onto the pan.
  • 8. Stir the sauces you just added with the cooked meat evenly.
  • 9. Adjust the taste to your liking (I add the Japanese mayonnaise and roasted sesame dressing when I feel like it’s not enough).
  • 10. Squeeze some lemon juice onto the pan. Stir evenly.
  • 11. On a bowl/plate, put the fries as base. Scoop some beef bulgogi onto the fries. Garnish your meal with some diced onions. Drizzle some Japanese mayo on top and add the chopped scallions (optional).
  • 12. Voila! Beef bulgogi fries is done~

How do you find my recipe instructions? Hopefully they are easy to follow~ If you will ever try making this at home, or you have probably tried the Beef Bulgogi Fries from K-Fry before, do tag us at @mydaehan and share what does it tastes like! We’re more than happy to hear your stories 🙂

In the meantime, wishing all my Malaysian friends and everyone around the world to stay safe during the lockdown, stay at home, and get vaccinated! So we can all reach the herd immunity, shush away the pandemic, meet each other and enjoy eating out at restaurants ever again. Till next time, annyeong~
