Last night aired the 57th Baeksang Arts Awards live in JTBC channel and TikTok for the global audience. Baeksang Arts Awards (๋ฐฑ์์์ ๋์) was introduced to recognize outstanding TVs, movies and theater production in the South Korea’s entertainment industry since 1965! It is considered as the most prestigious recognition in the country, similar like the Oscars.
Due to the pandemic, the award ceremony only limited to the nominees with strict prevention measures. I can say the Koreans really take this very seriously to prevent any possibilities of virus outbreak. The attendees were required to wear masks and seated with social distancing. The ceremony was hosted by the popular senior MC Sin Dong Yeop and the Start-up Actress Baek Suzy.
For the TV’s ‘Best Actor’, Beyond Evil’s Shin Ha Kyun received the recognition, competed with Vincenzo‘s Song Joong Ki, It’s Okay Not to Be Okay‘s Kim Soo Hyun, The Penthouse‘s Um Ki Joon and Flower of Evil‘s Lee Joon Gi.
For the movie’s Best Actor and Actress, the awards go to Voice of Silence’s Yoo Ah In and The Call’s Jeon Jong Seo.
National MC Yoo Jae Suk was awarded the TV’s Daesang Award (Grand Prize) in the ceremony!
Despite he didn’t received the Best Variety Man award (as Lee Seung Gi received), his contribution in the Korean variety field was indeed very significant. As one of the main cast of Running Man, Yoo Jae Suk continues to receive great attention from the Korean viewers and the global audience!
Our charming 18 Again’s Male Lead Lee Do Hyun also received the Best New Actor award.
Lee Do Hyun has been one of the growing actor after the warm TV series 18 Again in which he acted as the younger Go Woo Young in expressing his love to the children and his beloved wife. He also showed another character in Netflix’s Sweet Home and definitely he is gaining more experiences in acting! Congratulations to him and can’t wait to see more of his work.
