The online participants also planned a special event for the First Lady and the audience during the ceremony. 40 content creators together in one screen, rising their play cards showing the slogan ‘Fill Your Korea’ on the screen. Definitely an eye catching scenery in which 40 individuals from different countries at different time zones together in sync for this moment.

Let us listen to some thoughts and their goals from the newly appointed Korea.net K-influencers and Honorary Reporters!

I was very surprised at first, and now I’m very happy (of getting appointed as Honorary Reporters)! K-pop and K-Drama are very popular in Japan. However, Korean sports are not very famous. I would like to convey the charm of Korean traditional Ssireum to the Japanese people.

Honorary Reporter, Ritsuko. B (Amica) | Japan 🇯🇵

Its was an honoured to be part of this big group and excite me to write more about Korea. I would want to actively participate and write a lot so that by the end of the year, it would be the best memory of 2021.

Honorary Reporter, Alisya Lee | Malaysia 🇲🇾

I’m super honored to be a part of the intensive K-influencer this year. My goal is to improve my skills in content creation. I also want to connect with people with the same passion as mine.

K-Influencer, Travel With Karla | Philippines 🇵🇭

I’m elated to be a part of the Honorary Reporters 2021 program. I’m grateful that Korea.net gives us the opportunity to have a creative outlet where we can share our love for South Korea. I hope that through this program, I further enhance my knowledge of Korea and interact with like minded people who help me discover new aspects of this wonderful nation. Through my articles, I aim to shed light on the 2000yr old bond that Korea and India share with each other, as well as spread a positive message to my fellow K-enthusiasts about the wonders of Korea.

Honorary Reporter, Rosann Fernandes | India 🇮🇳

Proud and excites as HR family is growing and Melvin (‘I’m here!’) also joining us this year! (I would like) to do collaborations in video format with other Honorary Reporters!

Honorary Reporter, Haslina | Malaysia 🇲🇾

Honorary Reporter, Jyotika Babbar | India

It feels great to be associated with a group of such talented people who come together and share the same love for this country. Looking forward to have this experience. I don’t really have a plan but my sole motive is to learn about the culture of this country that I love so dearly, and help others to understand the uniqueness of it through my articles.

Honorary Reporter & K-influencer, Rully Utami

| Indonesia

As general (participant), I’m happy because this is my second year (in K-influencer). My goals are self confidence in camera, making YouTube channel, can edit to make it great videos! I’m (also) happy and so excited so much, being Honorary Reporter again in this year!

Here’s some social media posts shared by the ceremony attendees!

Congratulations too all the newly appointed Honorary Reporters & K-Influencers of Korea.net! Can’t wait to see all wonderful contents created this year!

Celebrating Teacher’s Day in Korea

Teachers day is dedicated to appreciate our dear 선생님 who has poured their effort and time to provide us knowledge throughout our schooling phase in life. They certainly played a huge role in our lives and deserves all our respect besides our parents. Like the saying goes, “The influence of teachers extends beyond the classroom, well into the future.”

History of Teachers Day Celebration in Korea

Contrary to the World Teachers’ Day is celebrated on October 5 each year, Korea celebrates its own Teacher’s Day or called 스승의 날 (Seseungwi nal) in mid-May annually. The modern version of this holiday began in 1963, when a group of Red Cross youth paid a visit to a sick teacher in the hospital. In 1965, the holiday was rescheduled to coincide with King Sejong the Great’s birthday (1397-1450) which falls on 5th of May.

Similar to Parents Day, students gives carnations to their teachers. What’s more specific, single red carnations are presented to teachers as a symbol of admiration. Former students takes he opportunity to visit their alma mater and gives carnations to their favorite teachers.

Teachers are highly appreciated in Korea that the Ministry of Education also issues a merit award to one outstanding teacher from across the nation which is evaluated based on their teaching methods, impact on their students and their overall influence to the society.

K-Dramas to watch this Teachers Day!

Our life is definitely incomplete without a hint of spice from K-Dramas right? Time to add some recommendations in the list!
