June K-pop Comebacks : Star Wars on Hot Summer (MONSTA X, MAMAMOO, EXO, TWICE, SEVENTEEN and more)

The world is already getting hotter in northern areas, including South Korea. Spring will soon be gone and replaced with summer. Starting this summer, the K-pop world will be presented with a variety of quality music presented by Korea’s top boy groups and girl groups.

Who are they, check this out!


June 1 | MONSTA X – Gambler

The group which in 2020 launched the first K-Pop English Album in this decade, MONSTA X, has back to present a quality music through their ninth mini album, ‘One of a Kind’. With the title track, ‘Gambler’, produced by rapper Jooheoney, Monsta X presents a blockbuster movie-quality music video with the theme Ocean-Eleven style heist and James Bond 007.

You can also enjoy their English song, ‘Secret’, which was composed by member Hyungwon who is also known as DJ H.One. Besides ‘Secret’, Hyungwon also wrote another song, ‘Bebe’, for their fans, Monbebe.

Check out their latest music video here. For those who are not familiar with them, this is a wonderful moment to know them, such as Jooheoney’s interrogative lines on this song, “If you don’t know, now you know/ Okay? deals”.


June 1 | B.I – illa illa

Starting a new journey in the Korean music industry, the soloist, formerly of boy band IKON, B.I released a new album, ‘Waterfall’ with ‘illa illa’ as the title track. Not only B.I’ fans and IKON’s fans, but many other K-pop fans also have been waiting a long time to enjoy his latest music.


June 2 | MAMAMOO – Where Are We

Seven years together as a group, the queen vocal of K-pop, MAMAMOO, has launched a new album titled ‘WAW’, which stands for ‘Where Are We’. Unlike the previous album with dance song nuanced title track, this quartet from RBW will present a ballad song with strong emotional vocals.


June 4 | NCT 127 ft. Amoeba Culture – Save

In collaboration with Amoeba Culture, an indie label founded by Dynamic Duo and Go Kyung-Min, NCT 127 will present a song titled ‘Save’. This collaboration is a surprise because it was just announced on May 28 through their twitter. NCT 127 itself is a sub-unit of the NCT group formed by SM Entertainment. NCT itself means Neo Culture Technology and 127 is the longitude coordinate of Seoul.


June 7 | EXO – Don’t Fight The Feeling

The last time they released an album was in November 2019, EXO will finally release a new album, ‘Don’t Fight The Feeling’. Along with Kai, D.O, Sehun, Xiumin (and Lay judging from teaser photos), Baekhyun and Chanyeol who are currently serving in the military will also enliven this album which celebrates their 9th debut anniversary. The making of this album and music video itself has been completed before Baekhyun and Chanyeol went military service.


June 11 | TWICE – Taste of Love

With the title track, ‘Alcohol, Free’, TWICE will be releasing their tenth mini album this summer. This 9-member music group, Jihyo, Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Momo, Sana, Mina, Dahyun, Chaeyoung, and Tzuyu will deliver an album that fits the summer vibe.


June 15 | BAMBAM – riBBon

After separating from JYP Entertainment, the member of the GOT7, BAMBAM will start his solo career by releasing his first mini album, ‘riBBon’. Together with his new company, ABYSS Company, BAMBAM will release his new album in two versions, ‘riBBon’ and ‘Pandora’.


June 16 | ONEWE – Planet Nine: Alter Ego

Under RBW, ONEWE will release their mini album, ‘Planet Nine: Alter Ego’. Before being named ONEWE, the band that was formed in 2015 used other names, namely M.A.S 0094 (2015–2017) and MAS (2017–2018).


June 17 | Brave Girls

Although the name of the song and their latest album is not yet known, Brave Girls will release ‘a cool summer song’ on June 17. In March this year, an old Brave Girls song, Rollin, which was released in 2017 went viral after a YouTuber uploaded a re-edited performances of Brave Girls, which is popular among soldiers undergoing military service in South Korea.


June 18 | SEVENTEEN – Your Choice

As part of the Power of Love project, SEVENTEEN has released a concept trailer for their latest album. Carrying animation theme, their latest trailer depicts the thirteen members’ excitement, starting from playing basketball, eating cake, falling asleep on the train, and playing with their dog.


June 28 | Loona – &

The group appointed as Global Culture Ambassador 2021 by KOCIS (Korean Culture and Information Service), Loona, will release their fourth mini album, ‘&’. Seen from the released teaser, Loona uses several Latin phrases to describe their latest mini album. ‘Citius, altius, fortius. Acta est fabula, plaudite.’ Roughly translate to: ‘Faster, higher, stronger. The play is over, applaud.’
